Our client is a key player in the steel manufacturing industry, producing a wide range of products including Angles, Channels and reinforcing bars. Their facility includes a Bar Mill, Rod Mill, Billet Yard, Guide Shop, Warehouse, and Maintenance departments. Position Overview:
They are currently seeking skilled and dedicated Mechanical Fitters to join their team. This role is integral to the smooth operation of their Melt shop, ensuring all equipment is prepared and maintained to meet production schedules and customer expectations. The successful candidate will possess strong technical skills, a commitment to safety, and the ability to mentor and train other team members.

Day Shift: Monday to Friday 6am – 2:30pm
Casual and permanent roles available

Casual Pay rates from $57 + 16% Super
Permanent Pay rates from $48 + 16% Super

Key Responsibilities:

Safety Compliance: Follow all safety systems, training, and instructions. Wear required personal protective equipment and adhere to company policies.

Equipment Maintenance: Ensure all equipment is ready and fit for use, aligned with production schedules. Maintain a high standard of housekeeping in the work area.

Technical Duties:

  • Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and inspections on mechanical equipment and machinery.
  • Working on a wide range of equipment including Pneumatic and Hydraulic systems, Power transmission systems, drive lines and more.
  • Respond to and Independently Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues on the plant to minimize downtime.
  • Install, align, and assemble mechanical components as required.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and equipment performance.

  • Trade Qualification: Mechanical Trade Qualification
  • Experience: Previous experience in maintenance and manufacturing roles is essential.
  • Skills: Strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work effectively within a team and with limited supervision.
