Their facility includes a Melt Shop, Bar Mill, Rod Mill, Billet Yard, Guide Shop, Warehouse, and Maintenance departments. Position Overview:
There are currently multiple vacancies available for skilled Mechanical Fitters, Boilermakers and Machinists to join their team.
These positions play a critical role in maintaining the efficiency of the melt shop and bar and rod mills. You’ll be responsible for ensuring all equipment is properly prepared, maintained, and operated to meet production goals and customer demands. Ideal candidates will have strong technical expertise, a commitment to safety, and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
Working Hours Day Shift: Monday to Friday 6am – 2:30pm
Shift Hours : 6am to 6pm and 6pm to 6am rotating – 7 days a week
Permanent Base Pay rates – $47 – $52 per hour
Shift pay rates – Permanent Base Pay rates $47 – $52 per hour plus Shift penalties
These are permanent full-time positions for an immediate start located in Laverton North
Key Responsibilities:
Mechanical Fitters:
- Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and inspections on mechanical equipment and machinery.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues to minimize downtime.
- Install, align, and assemble mechanical components as required.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and equipment performance.
Boilermakers:
- Fabricate, assemble, and repair structures, boilers, and pressure vessels.
- Read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints to build and modify equipment.
- Perform welding, cutting, and shaping of metal materials.
- Inspect and test completed structures for defects or safety concerns.
- Adhere to workplace health and safety regulations, including proper use of protective gear.
Machinists:
- Set up and operate precision machines (e.g., lathes, milling machines, grinders) to manufacture parts to exact specifications.
- Interpret blueprints and technical drawings to ensure accurate production of components.
- Perform routine machine maintenance and troubleshoot mechanical issues as needed.
- Measure and inspect finished products for accuracy and quality standards.
- Maintain detailed records of production runs and machine performance.
Each role requires attention to detail, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Qualifications & Skills:
- Trade Qualification: Mechanical/Maintenance fitter, Boilermaker, Fitter and Turner or Fabrication qualification.
- Experience: Previous experience in similar role is essential.
- Skills: Strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work effectively within a team and with limited supervision.
- Additional Skills: Forklift License (advantageous but not critical).
