Mechanical Technical Officer – Gas Pipelines

The Role:

As a Technical Officer – Mechanical, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, and improvement of high-pressure transmission pipeline systems and supporting infrastructure. Your responsibilities will include surveillance activities, operating, monitoring and maintaining plant & equipment along with problem-solving, and participating in upgrades and modifications of plant and systems. This position is a 12 month fixed term contingent position.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Plan and implement routine and unscheduled maintenance of pipeline systems and associated plant.
  • Conduct technical analysis and evaluations, recommending modifications and improvements.
  • Monitor and supervise the on-site Permit to Work System.
  • Co-ordinate and undertake scheduled and unscheduled pipeline/asset surveillance.
  • Operate, monitor, and maintain compressor stations, optimizing performance.
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns and emergencies, liaising with relevant personnel.

Essential Criteria:

  • Mechanical trade qualification or equivalent experience in transmission gas pipelines.
  • High degree of mechanical aptitude and previous mechanical experience in Oil & Gas related environment
  • Knowledge of Gas Transmission / Distribution Systems (An advantage).
  • Certificate III in Process Plant Operations (Gas Transmissions) (An advantage).
  • Knowledge of pressures, flows and distribution cause and effect and basic instrumentation (An advantage).
  • Competence in confined space and hazard awareness (An advantage).
  • Good computer literacy skills and the ability to competently use relevant computer applications to analyse data and records.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve mechanical plant problems.
  • Attention to detail and methodical approach to work.
  • A high degree of self motivation.
  • Ability to work unsupervised and supervise others.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Able to work in a team environment.
  • Good organisational and planning skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

Special Requirements

  • FIFO (Ex Perth) 15 on / 13 off
  • Vehicle, Tools and PPE provided
  • Accomodation provided and daily meal allowance
  • Current manual drivers licence.
  • Required to travel to work sites extensively.
  • Be available for on-call work and regular overtime.
  • Ability to work autonomously and in remote locations.
