The Opportunity

We are seeking a Recycling Yard Operator to join the team at the Craigieburn facility. This is a hands-on, physically demanding role that involves operating heavy machinery, manual handling, and interacting with customers and drivers on site.

This position offers consistent full-time hours in a casual role, with strong potential to transition into a permanent position.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate excavators and/or scrap handlers to load and unload vehicles
• Drive forklifts around the yard (forklift licence required)
• Assist with traffic control and vehicle movements on site
• Manually sort and prepare scrap loads
• Grade and purchase scrap using handheld devices or touchscreen systems
• Operate the weighbridge computer system
• Maintain high standards of safety and housekeeping
• Provide professional customer service to site visitors and drivers

What We’re Looking For

• Current forklift licence (mandatory)
• Experience operating excavators and/or scrap handlers
• Weighbridge experience preferred, or strong computer skills with the ability to learn quickly
• Physically fit and comfortable with manual labour
• Strong work ethic and reliability
• Good communication and customer service skills
• Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol test
