Senior Estimator – Electrical

The Opportunity

Currently an opportunity exists for a Senior Estimator – Electrical who will supervise and participate in the development, preparation, submission and negotiation of tenders, proposals, expressions of interest & pre-qualifications in line with the company policies, procedures and values.
This position is based in the Sydney’s North Ryde office and reports to the Estimating Manager

Key Responsibilities:

Tendering

  • Knowledge of all tendering procedures and specifications applicable to  the organisation and the ability to compile and meet with tender specifications and legal requirements
  • Able to provide expert advice on the evaluation of tenders received
  • Able to process tendering obligations and requirements which will be to the advantage of the business
  • Ensuring deadlines and commitments are met
  • Provide estimating support to projects and other regional departments
  • Preparation of tenders including take-offs, subcontractor enquiries & packages, contract reviews and evaluations and client correspondence.

  Estimating

  • Ensure that all competitive prices, new techniques and cost trends are monitored
  • Establish process’s which ensure costs for estimates are based on realistic timing and cost structures
  • Manage the delivery of tenders and ensure all estimates have approval prior to submission
  • Ensure the proactive and timely management of resources allocated to tender submissions to ensure deadlines are achieved
  • Knowledge of various technical trades and the ability to manage multiple disciplined business processes
  • Commit to the Company’s values and behaviours
  • Read and understand tender commercial conditions through consultation with commercial support services
  • Read and understand the tender scope of work and seek clarification where required
  • Prepare work method statements (or construction methodologies) consistent firstly with our proposal and secondly with the client’s criteria. (Don’t make promises we can’t keep)
  • Demonstrate initiative and continually seek ways that provide the company with a competitive edge and our client’s value for money
  • Continue to expand the company’s subcontractor and supplier base and promote healthy relationships with them

  
Key Criteria:

  • Electrical Trade Qualifications & background
  • Minimum 15 years industry related estimating experience
  • Strong knowledge of estimating principals
  • Strong commercial market knowledge with respect to competitors and best practices with
  • Supervisory experience within an office or industrial environment
  • Strong computer literacy including MS Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Well organised with ability to self-manage own time and priorities
  • Possess a friendly team orientated approach
  • Ability to establish and develop excellent working relationships
  • Strong work ethic and the ability to deliver high-quality results
