Credit Officer

Zoom Recruitment is currently partnering with a leading organisation to recruit an experienced Credit Risk Analyst. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented and analytical professional with strong credit risk capability. Candidates with previous debtor management, accounts receivable, collections or credit control experience will be highly regarded.

About the role

As a Credit Risk Analyst, you will be responsible for analysing customer creditworthiness, managing risk exposure and providing high-quality insights and recommendations to minimise credit losses while supporting commercial outcomes.

The role will also involve monitoring customer accounts, debtor exposure, payment performance and emerging credit risks. You will act as a key point of contact for credit assessments, limit reviews, debtor-related matters and portfolio monitoring.

Key responsibilities

Credit Analysis & Risk Assessment:

  • Analyse financial statements and conduct detailed credit assessments, including profitability, cash flow and capital structure
  • Assess and determine appropriate credit limits and trading terms for new and existing customers
  • Review debtor exposure, payment history, ageing profiles and customer account performance
  • Identify and evaluate credit risks across transactions, customers and portfolios
  • Monitor credit exposure and investigate credit limit breaches
  • Identify early warning signs, overdue debt trends and potential areas of financial risk
  • Conduct portfolio reviews, covenant checks and ongoing risk monitoring
  • Prepare clear and concise credit reports and recommendations for management

Debtor & Account Management:

  • Monitor outstanding debtor balances and customer payment performance
  • Review aged debt and identify accounts presenting increased credit risk
  • Work collaboratively with Accounts Receivable, Credit Control, Finance and operational teams
  • Assist with resolving customer account issues and credit-related queries
  • Support strategies aimed at reducing overdue debt and minimising potential credit losses

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Liaise with internal stakeholders and customers to develop a strong understanding of business operations and associated risks
  • Attend meetings and briefings and engage with clients where required
  • Support the Credit Risk Manager and contribute to broader team objectives

Compliance & Process Improvement:

  • Ensure all credit decisions align with company policies, procedures, and relevant legislation
  • Maintain accurate financial records and reporting
  • Assist in implementing process improvements within the credit function
  • Monitor industry trends, client performance, and emerging risks

About you

  • Proven experience in a Credit Risk, Credit Analyst, Credit Control or similar role
  • Strong financial analysis skills with the ability to interpret financial statements
  • Previous debtor management, accounts receivable, collections or credit control experience is highly advantageous
  • Experience reviewing aged debt, payment behaviour, customer exposure, and credit limits will be highly regarded
  • Strong understanding of commercial credit risk and customer account management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High attention to detail with strong organisational and time management abilities
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
  • Degree in Finance, Commerce, Risk, Accounting, or a related field is preferred
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel and Word skills
