Air Freight Import Officer (Temporary Full-Time)

Hours: Monday to Friday | 8:30am – 5:00pm

About the Role

As an Air Freight Import Officer, you will play a key role in coordinating import freight movements while ensuring the efficient handling of cargo, accurate documentation, and compliance with all operational and regulatory requirements. You will work closely with transport providers, warehouse teams, and customers to ensure freight is delivered safely and on time.

Key Responsibilities

Manage daily inbound and outbound freight handling activities, including receiving, handling, storing, recording, and dispatching goods.

Complete general administration tasks, including scanning, document processing, and accurate system data entry.

Coordinate and schedule local and interstate freight movements across road, rail, and intermodal transport.

Liaise with carriers, transport providers, and warehouse teams to manage daily freight movements.

Monitor transport jobs through the Transport Management System (TMS) to ensure on-time delivery.

Provide proactive communication to customers regarding delivery timeframes, delays, and special requirements.

Resolve transport-related issues efficiently while maintaining excellent customer service.

Ensure compliance with Chain of Responsibility (CoR), NHVR, WHS, security, and company procedures.

Key Accountabilities

Ensure the smooth, accurate, and efficient movement of goods throughout warehouse and transport operations.

Maintain accurate and timely transport documentation and system records.

Ensure all transport activities comply with legislative, safety, and company requirements.

Produce accurate reporting on handling activities and compliance metrics.

Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.

Support continuous improvement initiatives across transport and warehouse operations.

Meet operational KPIs and service level agreements (SLAs) while delivering exceptional service.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

Previous experience in air freight imports, freight forwarding, transport coordination, or logistics.

Strong administration and data entry skills with excellent attention to detail.

Experience using Transport Management Systems (TMS) or similar logistics software.

Excellent communication and customer service skills.

The ability to prioritise competing tasks and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.

A sound understanding of Chain of Responsibility (CoR), NHVR, WHS requirements, and transport compliance (desirable).
