Material Testing Operator
Test Operator – Quality & Laboratory – Steel Industry
Play a key role in ensuring product quality, compliance and continuous improvement across a leading steel manufacturing environment.
We’re looking for a hands-on Test Operator to join the laboratory and quality team, responsible for the daily testing of manufactured products and ensuring results are accurately recorded, reviewed and reported.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a practical laboratory environment and wants to build their experience across testing, quality assurance, technical support and continuous improvement.
What you’ll be doing:
- Collecting and preparing product samples from manufacturing operations
- Conducting tensile and re-bend testing across a range of products
- Reviewing test results and identifying non-conforming product
- Accurately recording and reporting test results within required timeframes
- Preparing data for quality and compliance reporting
- Supporting investigations into non-conforming products
- Providing technical support to manufacturing, R&D and new product development
- Supporting internal and external audits
- Identifying opportunities to improve laboratory processes, efficiency and quality outcomes
- Following laboratory procedures and the requirements of AS ISO/IEC 17025
- Maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality and regulatory compliance
What we’re looking for:
- Experience in a laboratory, testing, manufacturing or quality environment
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to testing and data recording
- An understanding of quality systems, testing procedures and compliance requirements
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- The ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a wider team
- A proactive approach to identifying issues and driving continuous improvement
- A strong commitment to workplace health and safety
