Test Operator – Quality & Laboratory – Steel Industry

Play a key role in ensuring product quality, compliance and continuous improvement across a leading steel manufacturing environment.

We’re looking for a hands-on Test Operator to join the laboratory and quality team, responsible for the daily testing of manufactured products and ensuring results are accurately recorded, reviewed and reported.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a practical laboratory environment and wants to build their experience across testing, quality assurance, technical support and continuous improvement.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Collecting and preparing product samples from manufacturing operations
  • Conducting tensile and re-bend testing across a range of products
  • Reviewing test results and identifying non-conforming product
  • Accurately recording and reporting test results within required timeframes
  • Preparing data for quality and compliance reporting
  • Supporting investigations into non-conforming products
  • Providing technical support to manufacturing, R&D and new product development
  • Supporting internal and external audits
  • Identifying opportunities to improve laboratory processes, efficiency and quality outcomes
  • Following laboratory procedures and the requirements of AS ISO/IEC 17025
  • Maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality and regulatory compliance

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience in a laboratory, testing, manufacturing or quality environment
  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to testing and data recording
  • An understanding of quality systems, testing procedures and compliance requirements
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • The ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a wider team
  • A proactive approach to identifying issues and driving continuous improvement
  • A strong commitment to workplace health and safety
