Responsibilities
- Operate front end loader machines to move and load scrap metal materials safely and efficiently in accordance with company and industry standards.
- Conduct routine maintenance and safety checks on equipment to ensure optimal performance and prevent breakdowns.
- Collaborate with team members from diverse backgrounds to coordinate the movement and processing of scrap metal.
- Follow all safety protocols and participate in ongoing safety training and development.
- Assist in maintaining an organised work area by removing debris and ensuring the scrap yard is clean and accessible.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and other team members to ensure smooth workflow and adherence to quality standards.
- Identify and report any operational issues, hazards, or incidents promptly to the relevant to reduce risks.
Qualifications
- Experience working in a scrap metal or recycling environment is advantageous.
- Strong commitment to safety standards and procedures for handling heavy machinery.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment with people from a variety of backgrounds and experiences.
- Good physical fitness, with the ability to work outdoors and in varying weather conditions.
- Strong communication skills and a proactive attitude towards problem-solving.
Day-to-Day
- Begin each day by conducting a thorough inspection of the front end loader and reviewing the operation plan.
- Safely and efficiently operate the front end loader to transport and organise scrap metal.
- Maintain an awareness of surroundings and communicate with colleagues to promote a safe work environment.
- Participate in safety briefings and report any issues encountered during operations to supervisors.
- Engage with team members to optimise processes, learn new skills, and support one another in daily tasks.
- End each workday by organising tools, securing equipment, and documenting completed tasks or incident reports as needed.
