Responsibilities:

  • Operate a front-end loader to move, load, and process scrap metal efficiently and safely.
  • Conduct daily inspections of equipment to ensure operational safety and report any maintenance needs.
  • Comply with facility and equipment safety regulations and procedures to maintain a safe and secure working environment.
  • Assist with general site operations including sorting scrap metal materials.
  • Monitor input and output of scrap metal into and out of processing areas.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure smooth operations and address any potential issues promptly.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development programs to enhance operational skills and knowledge.
  • Support company diversity initiatives and contribute to a workplace culture that values every team member.

    Qualifications:

  • Proven experience operating a front-end loader, preferably in a scrap metal or similar industrial setting.
  • Strong attention to safety and adherence to operational protocols.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a diverse team.

    Day-to-Day:

  • Start the day with a safety briefing and inspect machinery for operational readiness.
  • Load and unload scrap metal materials from trucks and conveyors using a front-end loader.
  • Organise and segregate metal types for processing, ensuring efficiency and organisation in the work area.
  • Communicate throughout the shift with colleagues to coordinate the flow of materials and prevent bottlenecks.
  • Maintain records of operations and alert supervisors to any operational challenges or potential improvements.
  • Engage in periodic training sessions to stay updated on equipment handling best practices and company initiatives.
  • End the day by ensuring all equipment is secure and reporting any incidents or hazards observed during the shift.
