Rod Mill Operator – Steel Manufacturing (Temp to Perm)

Employment Type: Full-Time Ongoing (Temp to Perm)

Roster: 12-Hour Rotating Shifts (24/7 Operation)

Pay:

• $48.23/hr (Day Shift)
• $62.69/hr (Night Shift)
• 16.5% Superannuation + Income Protection

Join one of Australia’s leading steel manufacturers in a hands-on operational role within the Rod Mill. This position operates in a fast-paced 24/7 production environment and requires strong mechanical aptitude and a commitment to safety.

Rosters are provided 6 months in advance, allowing you to confidently plan personal time.

The Role – Rod Mill Operations

You will be trained across key areas of the Rod Mill, including:

• Operate and monitor Coil Former operations
• Transport and stack finished steel coils using a 16T forklift
• Bundle and tag products to customer specifications
• Maintain continuous production flow and product quality
• Conduct basic quality checks and inspections in line with Australian Standards
• Follow strict safety procedures, including lockout/tagout
• Complete accurate shift handovers and reporting
• Maintain high housekeeping standards across the work area

What We’re Looking For

• Valid LF Forklift Licence (essential)
• Ability to pass a mechanical aptitude test
• Experience in heavy industrial or manufacturing environments (steel highly regarded)
• Strong safety focus and commitment to team standards
• Trade qualification (highly regarded)
• Ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts in a 24/7 environment
• Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident (essential – applicants without full working rights will not be considered)

Roster Structure – Rod Mill (3-Week Rotation)

Week 1

• 2 Days (6:00am – 6:00pm)
• 2 Nights (6:00pm – 6:00am)
• 5 Days Off

Week 2

• 3 Days (6:00am – 6:00pm)
• 1 Day Off

Week 3

• 3 Nights (6:00pm – 6:00am)
• 4 Days Off
• 6-month roster visibility provided
