Overview

Join our client, a vibrant Tier 2 civil contractor in the greater Townsville area, known for top-notch infrastructure projects like highways, roads, water and wastewater systems, mining infrastructure, and more.

As a Senior Civil Supervisor, you’ll be a key player in our client’s projects, reporting to the Operations Manager/Project Manager. We’re looking for someone with strong leadership skills, a passion for excellence, and a commitment to health, safety, environmental, and financial success. You’ll be the go-to person on the ground for our projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead and conduct risk assessments, documenting all tasks effectively.
• Keep a close eye on site activities to ensure they meet safety standards.
• Use consultative methods to tackle HSEQ issues on site.
• Make sure all traffic management plans, permits, and authorizations are sorted before any work starts.
• Build good relationships with clients, subcontractors, and project management teams.
• Streamline work schedules for better time and resource use.
• Guide and inspire teams to get the best results.
• Foster innovation to find cost-saving efficiencies or material gains.
• Spot risks and ensure corrective actions are taken.
• Handle hiring, assessing, and supervising team members or subcontractors as per contracts and project needs.
• Work with construction/project managers to plan and organize tasks.
• Read and interpret plans to ensure the work stays on track.
• Plan work and personnel to keep projects moving smoothly.
• Handle all necessary project paperwork, like timesheets, daily logs, and incident reports.

Qualifications

• Cert IV in Civil Construction / Site Management or similar.
• Hold a QBCC Site Supervisor Licence.
• White Card holder.
• CPR & Senior First Aid certification (desirable).
• At least 5 years of experience in civil construction, roads, earthworks, or infrastructure projects.
• Solid experience as a tradesperson, leading hand, or civil site supervisor.
• Skilled in understanding complex engineering drawings and specifications.
• Good grasp of local building codes, state rules, and environmental standards.
• Experience in managing site logistics, overseeing subcontractor teams, and operating heavy machinery.
• Knowledgeable in creating site safety plans, conducting risk assessments, and implementing hazard controls.
• Capable of managing project timelines and keeping senior stakeholders in the loop.
