Overview

We are seeking a talented and experienced Senior Project Engineer to join our clients team. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in the planning, execution, and successful completion of civil engineering projects across highways/mining/defence and wastewater, ensuring safety, quality, and contractual compliance. Responsibilities

  • Interpret construction plans and estimate the costs and quantities of materials required.
  • Manage and maintain essential project documents and records as part of the Integrated Management Systems.
  • Plan and oversee construction methods and procedures, coordinating the supply of labor and materials.
  • Supervise construction sites, directing subordinate team members and service providers, including subcontractors, to uphold safety, environmental, and quality standards.
  • Foster a consultative approach to resolve Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) issues at the site.
  • Stay informed about contract documents and negotiate with subcontractors as necessary.
  • Prepare cost estimates and contract bid documentation, presenting these for review to the Project Manager.
  • Consult with architects, engineers, and other technical personnel to ensure compliance with design requirements.
  • Interpret regulations and codes of practice to guide projects in alignment with construction schedules.
  • Calculate costs, revenue, and estimate completion times to prepare progress claims, extensions of time, and monthly reports.
  • Develop detailed work programs for site activities and coordinate personnel accordingly.
  • Manage and document variations from design drawings or specifications for client submission.
  • Evaluate and manage subcontractors’ claims by assessing completed work.
  • Negotiate subcontractor agreements and report notable issues to Project Manager or contractors’ representative.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in a similar role on civil projects.
  • Proven experience on both contractor side and client side in similar civil sectors.
  • Documented history of managing engineering packages, budgets, timelines, and handling contractual variations.
  • Strong understanding of construction methodologies, sequencing, site safety protocols, and risk management.
  • Demonstrated commercial acumen, including subcontractor management, supplier quote reviews, and cost forecasting.
